Yuzvendra Chahal Credits Sanju Samson for Career Transformation into IPL Death-Over Specialist

Yuzvendra Chahal, the IPL's all-time leading wicket-taker, has credited Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson for fundamentally changing his bowling career by transforming him into a death-over specialist. Chahal revealed that prior to joining the Royals in 2022, he typically finished his spell by the 16th or 17th over, but Samson challenged him to take on the toughest phase of the innings.

This new responsibility under Samson's calm leadership proved transformative. Chahal embraced the challenge, practicing extensively for the death overs, and subsequently won the Purple Cap in the 2022 season after picking up 27 wickets, including 14 or 15 in the death overs alone. Chahal noted that this shift improved his overall game by 2% and gave him confidence in high-pressure situations.

Chahal praised Samson's supportive style, stating that the captain gave him complete freedom with the ball.
