The Rajasthan Royals (RR) are actively exploring Pune's MCA International Stadium as a potential new home base for the IPL 2026 season, driven by ongoing friction with the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). The relationship between the franchise and the RCA deteriorated significantly last season following public match-fixing accusations made by an RCA official, which the Royals vehemently denied.
RR's management recently sent a delegation to Pune to inspect the Gahunje Stadium, assessing logistical factors such as pitch conditions, seating capacity, and local hotel availability. The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) is keen to host IPL matches again, with an official confirming that efforts are underway to bring the tournament back to the city. If finalized, Pune would host approximately four of RR's home fixtures, with the remaining matches likely held in Guwahati.
This potential relocation is complicated by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) also seeking Pune as an alternative venue, as the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium remains unavailable following a stampede incident. While RCB's interest is genuine, RR has already submitted a formal request, placing the MCA in a favorable position as they evaluate options for the upcoming season. The final decision on venue allocation ultimately rests with the BCCI.
