Kuldeep Yadav, the Delhi Capitals spinner, has surpassed Ravichandran Ashwin's T20I wicket tally during a match between India and the United Arab Emirates in the Asia Cup 2025.
Yadav's impressive 4/7 spell earned him the Player of the Match award and took his total T20I wickets to 73, surpassing Ashwin's 72.
This achievement marks Yadav's second four-wicket haul for India in T20Is, the first being against Ireland in 2018.
Yadav credited his improved fitness and practice sessions for his stellar performance, emphasizing the importance of reading the batters and hitting the right lengths.
“(On his fitness) Thanks to Adrian [le Roux] the trainer. I was working on my bowling and my fitness as well, everything is going perfectly. Tried to hit the right length and it matters a lot, reading the batters on what they are trying to do. Even today as well, reacting to what the batters would do on the next ball”
