Former Selector Devang Gandhi Urges BCCI to Create Specialized Development Path for RR Prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Former India selector Devang Gandhi has called upon the BCCI to proactively manage the development of Rajasthan Royals' young batting sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Gandhi expressed concern that while Suryavanshi is dominating age-group and domestic white-ball cricket, his current level of competition may not adequately prepare him for top-tier challenges.

Suryavanshi recently smashed a stunning 190 off 84 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, reaching his century in just 36 balls. However, Gandhi stressed the importance of exposing the youngster to tough First-Class cricket to prevent the formation of bad habits and ensure continuous growth, stating that selectors cannot rely solely on records against weaker opposition.

Despite these concerns about his development path, Suryavanshi has already demonstrated rare power and bat speed at the highest level. In his debut IPL season for RR, he scored 252 runs in seven matches at an explosive strike rate of 206.55, including a century where he took on international bowlers like Rashid Khan and Ishant Sharma.
