Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appealed to the BCCI to increase the state's representation in domestic cricket. Adityanath believes that Uttar Pradesh, with its large population, deserves to have at least four teams in domestic competitions.
He argues that this would provide more opportunities for aspiring cricketers from the state and help unearth hidden talent. Adityanath made this request on the sidelines of the ongoing UPT20 League. Uttar Pradesh has historically been a strong cricketing state, but its last Ranji Trophy title came in the 2005-06 season.
“I believe the players we have must get the platform within Uttar Pradesh...There should be at least four teams in domestic cricket from Uttar Pradesh, the state deserves this opportunity.”
