Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj has been fined 15% of his match fee and given one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the third Test against England at Lord's.
The incident occurred after Siraj dismissed Ben Duckett, where he celebrated excessively close to the batsman, shouting and making minor physical contact. This action was deemed a violation of Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which prohibits actions that could provoke an aggressive reaction from a dismissed batter.
This is Siraj's second such offense in 24 months, bringing his total demerit points to two. He admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson, thus avoiding a formal hearing.
The fine and demerit point come amidst a tense atmosphere in the Lord's Test, with both teams vying for a crucial win in the series.
