Ravindra Jadeja delivered a spectacular all-round performance, earning the Player of the Match award as India secured a dominant innings and 140-run victory over the West Indies in the first Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Jadeja was instrumental in the win, first scoring a crucial unbeaten century (104*) to help India declare at 448/5, and then dismantling the West Indies batting lineup in the second innings.
The Chennai Super Kings star finished the second innings with figures of 4/54, complementing the earlier efforts of Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. Jadeja’s recent form has been exceptional, and he credited his improved batting to dedicated fitness and skill work during the off-season. His ability to perform consistently with both bat and ball, especially when batting higher up the order, makes him an invaluable asset for the national side and his IPL franchise.
India wrapped up the match inside three days, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. Jadeja’s performance highlighted his status as one of the world's premier all-rounders, capable of influencing the game decisively in all three departments.
“Yeah, I have been working hard with my batting. We had a two-month off, there was no Test cricket or ODIs. I was working on my fitness and I went to the Centre of Excellence in Bangalore, worked on my skills and fitness there.”
