Ravichandran Ashwin, after retiring from the IPL, is in discussions with Cricket Australia to potentially join the Big Bash League (BBL).
Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of having a "champion cricketer" like Ashwin in the BBL. If the deal goes through, Ashwin would be the first Indian cricketer to play in the league.
Ashwin has also expressed interest in the International League T20 (ILT20) and The Hundred. He is a highly sought-after player with a remarkable 765 international wickets and 187 IPL wickets.
Greenberg believes Ashwin's presence would elevate the BBL. Ashwin's potential participation is seen as a groundbreaking move that could pave the way for other Indian players to join overseas T20 leagues.
“To get someone with Ashwin’s credentials to come over here for the BBL will be great at so many levels. He’s a champion cricketer who will bring a lot to the Big Bash and to our cricket summer”
