Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan suggested that India should consider including Arshdeep Singh in their playing XI for the Super Four clash against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025. Pathan believes having a second seamer like Arshdeep alongside Jasprit Bumrah could be crucial, especially if the ball gets wet due to dew.
He questioned whether Hardik Pandya or Shivam Dube could consistently bowl yorkers under pressure, highlighting Arshdeep's potential value. However, Pathan acknowledged the difficulty of changing a winning team combination.
“I will stick to my words, what I said before the start of the Asia Cup. I would want to see Arshdeep play with (Jasprit) Bumrah because a situation could come where you might need a second fast bowler. When the ball gets wet and you are under pressure, is Hardik's (Pandya) strength bowling six yorkers, or can Shivam Dube bowl those yorkers consistently?”
