Breetzke was initially slated to return to the English county side, but the scheduling conflicts necessitated a change in plans for Northamptonshire.

Northants Head Coach Darren Lehmann confirmed the decision, noting that while they would have liked Breetzke back, having a fully available overseas player for the entire T20 Blast tournament was deemed more beneficial.
