Keshav Maharaj has climbed to the top of the ICC Men's ODI bowling rankings after his stellar 4/22 performance against England.
Maharaj's performance earned him the Player of the Match award in South Africa's dominant seven-wicket victory. He credited adjustments to his bowling based on observing other spinners.
Maharaj acknowledged the team's ongoing transition despite their strong showing. He expressed satisfaction with the team's execution of their plans against England.
South Africa's comprehensive win included strong contributions from Wiaan Mulder and Aiden Markram. The two teams will continue their series at Lord's.
“[I] thought [it] was a really good wicket. Little bit of nibble and fortunately our bowlers managed to utilise that. We know the English lads play extremely well in their conditions and so good to see the guys put their plans to fruition today. I have looked at some of the best in the world and sort of managed to make minor changes and it has paid dividends. We are in a wonderful place but we are still in transition. Good to see the guys put their hands up in every single game we play”
