Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is set to receive consistent opportunities in the Indian Test setup, with the team management prioritizing his development as a seam-bowling all-rounder. Assistant Coach Ryan ten Doeschate emphasized that it would be "unfair" to limit Reddy's exposure only to overseas tours, especially since India will not be playing abroad frequently over the next year and a half.
Reddy, who has played only one of his eight Tests at home, is expected to feature in the upcoming second Test against the West Indies. The management is keen to nurture his potential, recognizing his value as a player who can contribute 10-15 overs a day and bat effectively. This focus aims to ensure India has a reliable seam-bowling all-rounder for future away series.
“We think he’s a fantastic seam-bowling all-rounder. The biggest limitation to what his ceiling could be is going to be his body. The challenge for him is to get game time between away series. In a series like this, it is more important to look ahead and see how we can fit him in so that he gets game time.”
