Head and Marsh Achieve Record-Breaking Partnership Against South Africa

Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh etched their names in the record books with a monumental 250-run opening partnership against South Africa in the third ODI at Mackay. This stand not only became the highest ever opening partnership for Australia against the Proteas but also the second-largest overall partnership between the two nations in ODIs.

The partnership was a much-needed return to form for Head, who had struggled in the preceding white-ball matches. He anchored the innings with a magnificent 142 off 103 balls, his seventh ODI century. Marsh also contributed significantly, reaching his century with a composed 100 off 106 deliveries.

This remarkable feat marked Australia's first century opening stand in 24 ODI innings, a testament to the duo's dominance. The innings propelled Australia to a massive total of 431/2, their second-highest ODI score ever.

Despite already losing the series, Australia's resounding performance in the third ODI provided a much-needed boost and showcased their batting prowess.
