Chopra Taps Varun Chakaravarthy, Bumrah, Head, and Buttler as T20 World Cup Impact Players

Former India opener Aakash Chopra has tipped several IPL stars to be the key impact players in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. Chopra named a mix of Indian and overseas players, highlighting their recent form and proven track records in the shortest format.

Leading his list of impact bowlers were Indian mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy and speedster Jasprit Bumrah, alongside Australia's Adam Zampa. Chakaravarthy, who has been in scintillating form since his return to the national side, boasts an exemplary T20I record, while Bumrah was the Player of the Tournament in the previous edition in 2024.

In the batting department, Chopra selected Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma, Australian powerhouse Travis Head, and England's Jos Buttler. Abhishek, the top-ranked Indian batter, is known for his ultra-aggressive approach, striking at nearly 195 in T20Is. Both Head and Buttler, veterans of the IPL, are expected to provide explosive starts for their respective teams.
